Inspiring All Things disABILITY
People with disabilities (PWD), together with parents of children with disabilities, have the same aspirations as everyone else, but the journey to get there is different. With different journeys come different needs. disABILITYincites is the first company to conduct research about the needs of people with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities. disABILITYincites is a Chicago-based 501(c)(3 organization that measures the attitudes, perceptions, consumption and other behaviors for and about people with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities to uncover their unmet needs.
Since the 1950's the general population and sub-segments have been the focus of polls, needs-based research, market research and other research investigations. Annually some $18.9 billion dollars is spent globally on consumer-based market research alone; and, of that amount $6.7 billion is spent in the US. Companies create products and services with end users in mind. For this they rely heavily on market research, among other things, to guide their decision-making.
As a consequence of their lack of inclusion in needs-based research, people with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities are not on the radar for the vast majority of (financial, pharmaceutical, consumer package goods, healthcare, technology, beauty, retail, travel, etc.) companies and providers of social services. This includes when they are thinking about creating and developing new products and services to enhance end user everyday living and overall satisfaction.
Using measurement that is inclusive, disABILITYincites uncovers the needs of people with disabilities and the needs of parents with children with disabilities. This inspires growth-opportunity seekers (designers, inventors and innovators) to create ABILITY solutions that address the challenges people with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities face. With viable solutions, people with disabilities and parents of children with disabilities can live out their aspirations and more fully participate in all areas of life.
